Mitch Hidden

Raised on a baseball diamond in the summers and a basketball court in the winters, I was exposed to competitive athletics from an early age.  In high school, I took my athletic abilities onto the football field where I started as the varsity quarterback for four years.  Presented with multiple opportunities to continue my football career throughout college, I decided to retire from athletics and instead enroll in the College of Business at The University of Illinois.  It was in November of 2008, my first semester at U of I, that a good friend of mine told me to check out a thing called CrossFit and come try a WOD with him.  Somewhere between puking halfway through my first WOD and the two day long headache that followed, I fell in love with CrossFit.  One year later, I had switched my major to Kinesiology and was a CrossFit Level 1 certified trainer.  In the hopes of growing the CrossFit Champaign-Urbana community I quit my job at the Campus Recreation Center in early 2010 and can say whole heartedly that it has been the best decision I’ve ever made.  I am now blessed with the opportunity to make a direct impact on the fitness, health, and general well-being of dozens of individuals on a daily basis.

  1. When did you find CrossFit?
    November 2008
  2. Favorite CrossFit moment to date?
    Having the opportunity to work with individuals on a daily basis to improve their health and fitness.
  3. Favorite/Least Favorite WOD?
    Favorite is Rope Climb / Clean and Jerk WOD.  Least favorite is Barbara.
  4. Favorite/Least Favorite exercise?
    Favorite is heavy overhead squats.  Least favorite is handstand push-ups
  5. What are some of your long-term fitness goals?
    30 Muscle-ups in under 5:00, 200 pound Snatch, 250 pound Clean and Jerk
  6. Favorite “Pump-Up” song?
    “Battle Song” by Lecrae
  7. Favorite Paleo meal?
    Grilled chicken breast with asparagus.  Keep it simple.
  8. Favorite cheat meal?
    Burger, fries and a shake.
  9. Hobbies outside of CrossFit?
    Constantly pursuing a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
  10. If you had one super power what would it be?
    The ability to make people understand the benefits of a CrossFit and Paleo lifestyle with a single sentence.
