Luke Moore

My journey towards physical fitness began as a lazy, unmotivated kid who declined to play high school football as a sophomore and junior due to a “testing” program that included a 1.5 mile run.  A few years later, I was unable to pass the US Army physical fitness test according to the standards for 18 year old males.  Fast forward to 2007, when I took a desk job after working construction for the previous ten years.  I knew that if I did not do something to keep up some level of activity I would be in trouble.  However, I didn’t really know what to do.  I tried to go to the gym with my wife (a group fitness instructor at a globo gym), but had no interest in what I saw there.  Borrowing a term from science class, I was near Zero Kelvin; the point at which all molecular motion ceases.  While walking the dog one morning in June of 2009, I met Mike Nash driving home.  I asked him where he was coming from so early, and he replied “doing CrossFit at the church.”  The following week I showed up and met Sky and the group that eventually became CFCU to try out Cindy.  That horrible 20 minutes was the pivotal moment in my life and has led me to become a dedicated CrossFitter, with newfound motivation to become stronger, faster, and fitter every day.

  1. When did you find CrossFit?
    June 19th 2009
  2. Favorite CrossFit moment to date?
    Completing Murph Rx’d
  3. Favorite/Least Favorite WOD?
    Favorite is Fight Gone Bad.  Least favorite is any hotel WOD, or any done alone.
  4. Favorite/Least Favorite exercise?
    Favorite is anything with a barbell.  Least favorite is anything with a jump rope.
  5. What are some of your long-term fitness goals?
    Double Unders.
  6. Favorite “Pump-Up” song?
    Metallica.  All of it.
  7. Favorite Paleo meal?
    I don’t see it as “paleo” anymore, just “food.”  But if I had to pick one it would be bacon wrapped chicken and fried broccoli.
  8. Favorite cheat meal?
    Mom’s Chocolate Chip Cookies
  9. Hobbies outside of CrossFit?
    Traveling to other CF Affiliates for a WOD, doing CF with my wife, talking about CF, wait a minute…
  10. If you had one super power what would it be?
    Double Unders.
