Foodie Friday : What’s in my lazy susan?

January 27, 2012   Allyson   1 Comment

No… Lazy Susan is not Fran’s whiny anti-CF little sister… a lazy susan is a corner cabinet that spins… and it’s where I keep all of my baking supplies!  In our kitchen, it’s right below the spice cabinet, so when I’m preparing dinner everything is within easy reach.  If you spin it open, here’s what you’ll find!

2-4 boxes of Baker’s unsweetened baking chocolate squares
Agave nectar
Honey
Hershey’s 100% cocoa, powdered
Coffee
Apple cider vinegar
White vinegar
Red Wine vinegar
Balsamic vinegar
Coconut flour
Arrowroot powder
Unsweetened shredded coconut
Almond flour
Extra-virgin olive oil
Fish sauce
Grapeseed oil
Canola oil (some people say it’s paleo, some say it’s not… we hardly use it)

We buy our unsweetened coconut at Beachy’s in Arthur (the only other place we’ve ever seen UNSWEETENED coconut was at a tiny rural grocery store in Canada… weird) and up until recently we bought all of our almond flour in 25lb. boxes from nutsonline.com — but Karen Quinlan just found another (cheaper!) source at goldalmonds.com so we will be trying them next time!

If you’re ever in a scrape and can’t get to Beachy’s, that natural foods store behind Biaggi’s sells Bob’s Red Mill unsweetened coconut. It’s an arm and a leg but I’ve bought it before in a pinch.

Was this specifically programmed with post Superbowl body detoxification in mind?
