Brandon Lovett

As a kid being active came fairly naturally to me, I had always been an avid athlete along with an active home lifestyle starting in soccer from about the day I could walk and eventually got into wrestling and lifting by the time I had hit high school after trying out track, football, and cross country along the way. As I entered college I continued being active by doing my 3 days a week, bodybuilding style, globo-gym workout but had luckily came upon a position as an assistant wrestling coach at a local high school so I never really saw my fitness level spiraling down. Around my junior year of college though I realized I wasn’t happy, I just wasn’t getting what I wanted out of my workouts. Nothing compared to that same intensity I felt during the wrestling season. I knew there had to be more than chest, bi’s, tri’s, etc. I happened across an article in Men’s Health April 2009 about Movnat, a type of workout that was focused on moving our bodies naturally during shorter high intensity workouts. This started my functional fitness movement. I continued happily with this for another year and a half until Christmas 2010 when my cousin mentioned something to me about how he and his wife had been doing Crossfit. Intrigued I looked into it and by January 2011 I had started doing a couple mainsite WOD’s a week. I decided to get my L1 certification that March. I got killed by Fran the first day, could hardly walk the next, and was in love by the end of that weekend.
